Celia Yew is a graduate from Nanyang Polytechnic, with a Diploma in Animation. She is psyched on 2D illustration and 2D animation and enjoys sketching outdoor compositions and café scenes.

“People usually describe my artwork as pure and bright. However, I hope to surprise them with new work I’ve produced for the Body//Anomalies exhibition by “twisting” the innocence of my works. I believe there is power in purity and I hope with my recent pieces, where such purity is corrupted, I can evoke melancholic emotions of love and pity for the innocent subjects. The show is a collab with a good friend of mine, Olive Chua  (watch this space). We are working along the themes of the bizarre, disturbing and erotic which is not something that I have deeply explored before until now, as much as I’m a huge fan of the Ero Guro Nansensu movement.”

BODY//ANOMALIES opens on 27 October and runs until 12 November at ARTBLOVK.
