Permanent Distractions by Ellipsis

(from the press release)

Ellipsis is a quartet consisting of 3 guys and 1 girl. The music of Ellipsis can be best described as psychedelic rock with a modern twist, blending in a myriad of genres which include post-rock, progressive, indie, power pop, and psychedelia of the 60s. Their big break came when they were handpicked by The Fray to be their opening act at the Guinness Arthur’s Day 2013. Ellipsis went on to release their debut EP Pirate Echo Boy under the Blue Hour Sessions series and played their first show at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre.

After auditioning for the NOISE Singapore The Music Mentorship (TMM) programme, the band was picked by Eddino (Force Vomit) to be mentored over a period of 6 months. In September 2014, Ellipsis released their second EP Permanent Distractions in conjunction with their performance at the NOISE Singapore 2014 Festival held at the Esplanade. They eventually snagged the NOISE Singapore Award which comes with a grant of $5,000 to carry out an arts project.

Permanent Distractions is the second EP of Ellipsis which was released in September 2014. The 4 tracks in the album explore thoughts in a human’s head which are ever-present but always overlooked, such as belonging, sanity, regret, and unrequited love. Produced over a course of 6 months, the EP finds the band venturing into a more diversified sound, fusing together melodic hooks and instrumental breakdowns with progressive transitions.

The band will be performing at MAAD Sounds this Friday together with The Psalms, Monster Cat and Spacedays. Details here.
