Spotted! Bryant Lau Liang Cheng

Our next creative takes you to dizzying heights. Introducing Bryant Lau Liang Cheng, a year 3 Architecture student at Singapore Polytechnic.

Bryant was named Emerging Designer of the year at the 2011 International Design Awards (IDA) with the featured project “Amalgamation”. The project was also shortlisted for the BE OPEN AWARDS International competition in the CITY category, and was on display at the 2012 100% London Design show.

“I am  interested in exploring prototypes or typologies in architecture as a means to deal with issues that have or might plague our way of living in the future. For instance, my year 2 “Amalgamation”  project utilizes the concept of modularity to allow the individualization of units through multiple configurations, allowing the users to define their own units; expressing their own identity. This strategy also embraces the dilemma of growing shoe-box apartments that have compromised certain aspects of the quality of living.”

Do I sense your pent-up exhilaration ?
