Newton Circus: A Curious Music Dreamscape Experience + Giveaway

Newton Circus will be releasing their debut album on 21st July. The self-titled EP, newton circus, includes five original songs, each featuring arrangements that combine sounds of rock and synth elements with classical instruments such as strings and wind instruments. Together with the addition of soft yet nuanced vocals, the result is a series of multi-layered harmonies, each with its own distinctly personal character.

Although the name of the band suggests a local reference to Singapore, the artistic direction of Newton Circus is anything but. Inspired by the peaceful solitude of Scandinavian landscapes, this EP explores themes of existentialism, purpose and desire; only to find the world filled with wonders beyond imagination.

The band was founded in 2010 by brothers Kenneth and Colin Ong. Their EP was produced and recorded in collaboration with Kevin Foo of Loft Studios, and mastered in Denmark by Holger Lagerfeldt.

Supported by six sessionists, Newton Circus will perform songs from their EP as well as unrecorded material live for the first time on 21st July, from 7pm, at TAB, 442 Orchard Road.

We are giving away 2 copies of the EP. Email before Monday, 23 July. Contest is open to Singapore residents only.
