Spotted! Oranje Lwin

Oranje Lwin is a recent graduate from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She started out as a painter working on 2-dimensional surface. “Painting on 2-dimensional surface has its limitations though. Light is used as a medium to draw lines in space to overcome the limitation of a single plane surface. I am currently exploring the intervention of spatial relations by experimenting with light and new media such as video, text and sound to investigate the paradoxical space that breaks away from the limitation of single plane surface.”

In her graduation project, Oranje seeks to distill the essence of things to bridge the distance that often exists between the image and the viewer. “The monochromatic figures from photographs are extracted from their surroundings and their forms, rendered incomplete, and drawn on the negative space to capture the essence of an image.”

You can view Oranje’s work at the NAFA Fine Art graduation show which closes on July 20.
