Directors of Singapore’s leading theatre companies come together for the first time to discuss the shifting dynamics between artistic integrity and commercial viability in the new global creative order. Art-makers be it performers, dancers, painters, sculptors, installation artists, musicians, or writers have traditionally been framed within mythic principles of ideology, hardship, suffering and as living on-the-edge. Is this commonplace view still relevant in the 21st century? Can an artist successfully balance financial interest without compromising their viewpoint or talent? Panelists: Ivan Heng, Gaurav Kripalan, Ong Keng Sen and Venka Purushothaman. 22 Apr, 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm at SMU. Free admission.
