Best known as the frontman and singer-songwriter of indie punk-pop-rock legends Plainsunset, Jon is also a freelance visual artist and illustrator whose style is best described as personal and intimate. Here in his debut solo show, Jon sheds his rocker’s persona to reveal a different kind of art. Honest lyrics, sweet melodies and mature musicality come together in Jon's heady brew of acoustic folk-pop originals from his contemplative debut solo release, Ears and Eyes. These draw on such disparate influences as Simon and Garfunkel, U2, Cole Porter, the Ramones and Fugazi. Sit back as Jon delivers his folk-rock musings on the guitar, both solo and with backing from his friends, amidst a “gallery” backdrop of his own artworks on display in and around the concert area. 25 Jul, 9.30pm at the Esplanade Recital Studio. - # - konnichiWHOA!
