Drawing King Tournament

Do artists still know how to draw these days? Drawing King is a drawing tournament to resurrect this lost art form. Two Overhead Projectors placed side by side form the canvas and arena in which eight artists and illustrators take turns to “draw-off” in quick-fire 1-vs-1 matches.

The participating warriors are:

eeshaun (Soh Ee Shaun)
Dyn (Safaruddin Bin Abdul Hamid)
Zhao Renhui
Teng Yen Lin
Darel Seow
Lim Qi Xuan
Richie Chen
Sherylene Chew

To celebrate the lost art of drawing, Evil Empire has cheekily created a 2.2m long Giant Pencil as the tournament prize.

Come prepared with your loudest cheers to determine the Drawing King -the one to lift the 2-metre-long Giant Pencil-  at the live showdown on 23 July, between 7 – 10pm at Evil Empire, 48 Niven Road.

What happens after the tournament?

Works created will be exhibited from 26 through 30 July, 2-8 pm.

On 31 July at 4pm, you will be the ones competing for the works at the Drawing King Auction.  For just S$30, you will receive 3000 Evil Dollars (E$3000). The auction will be conducted by a special guest auctioneer. Limited to 30 spaces.

ANYTHING ALSO ANYHOW

Anything Also Anyhow is eeshaun’s 2nd solo art exhibition -featuring new paintings and drawings, in conjunction with the new store opening of ActuallyActually at 16A Purvis Street. Opening Night: 12 March, 7pm -930pm. The show runs till 12 April.

Local Artists Light Up Singapore With HP

What better way to illustrate the power of technology than by that of art? What better way to demonstrate the potential of the future than to leverage on the talent of the present?

For its “Touch the Future, Now” light show held at VivoCity from 8 to 12 July 2009, Singapore’s first light and 3D projection show, HP collaborated with some of the nation’s finest – Brick, Eeshaun, MrB, AnnGee and Mindflyer, who shared their versions for the future around five key areas – music, art, communications, gaming and the cityscape in Singapore.

The support put in by the brand is admirable, and I can only hope for more investments made in our local pool of artists for the future to come.

ARTIST TALK AT NAFA: SOH EESHAUN

Join artist eeshaun as he reveals the unexpected twists and narratives that can be found in the art of illustration.  A self-taught artist who enjoys the immediacy of spontaneous and whimsical drawings, eeshaun seeks to challenge logic and perspective in his artwork as a response to the way Singapore is largely shaped through systematic research and planning. He has produced works for Adidas, NIKE, and the Discovery Channel, among others. In 2008, he was commissioned as one of the curatorial leads to design the Singapore Pavilion at the prestigious 11th Venice Architectural Biennale. 29 Jan, 1pm-3pm at Seminar Room 2-08, NAFA Campus 1, Wing B.
