Spotted! Miyako Miiya

She loves all things vivid, weird and fluffy. Meet Singapore-based Miyako Miiya, a Japanese illustrator, animator, and comic artist working primarily in watercolour. The future sees Miyako realise a dream that has been percolating in her brain for a while …

“I started my art because I’m not good at expressing my feelings through text, not even in my first language. To tell something without using a language, I need to understand how people communicate even when they use different languages. Many people ask me why I came to Singapore to study animation art, since Japan is well-known for its anime. But to me, Singapore is the perfect place to see what I want to learn.”

There’s more excellent work in her portfolio – get a load of it here.
