Spotted! Beverley Ng

Currently studying Visual Communication at NTU’s School of Art, Design & Media,  Beverley Ng takes on femininity as subject matter in her illustrations. We were particularly smitten by her latest work, a four-part illustration entitled Modern Decadence.

“Most of my works are female-centric, they focus on the female figure and the emotional aspect of what it is like being a girl. She had become quite a character in my illustrations. To quote John Berger in his text Ways Of Seeing, “the surveyor of woman in herself is male: the surveyed female. Thus she turns herself into an object — and most particularly an object of vision: a sight.” For me, there is a lot to explore about the female figure. There is also a lot about being a girl. She is an embodiment of a concept, she is a form to be studied and admired and I continue to study it.”
