Another creative emerging from BooksActually‘s comic and genre-centric collective The Comic Strip is Wayne Rée. His book Tales From A Tiny Room is made up of eleven short prose pieces and features artwork by Audrey Chan, Paul Hendricks and Andrew Mason. Totally worth a look!
Wayne about his work: “What happens when two gods sit on a park bench and compare universes? Why does a reporter’s world fall to pieces after he meets someone who can fly? And what’s the secret of the man who changes with every city he’s in? All the stories are slice-of-life really – just very heavily filtered through the lens of genre fiction. Which, I suppose, is what most genre fiction aspires to be anyway: Human stories dressed up in decidedly far-out clothes. I asked my friends to create accompanying art because I was raised as much on Kirby as I was on Bradbury. Their illustrations don’t just complement the stories. In some cases, they add a whole new dimension that I hadn’t considered before.”
Signing sessions with Wayne Rée happen on 6 and 7 September from 12:00noon – 12:45pm at the Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC), booth #H21.
