The Adventures of Fatman & Superchub by Stephanie Raphaela Ho

Ever since it was announced that BooksActually will kick it at the Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) on 6 and 7 September, we have wanted to find out more about the books they will be launching from their comic and genre-centric collective The Comic Strip.

Over the course of the next four weeks we will give you a taste of what to expect.

Up first is freelance illustrator Stephanie Raphaela Ho also known as Muffinsaurs. Fresh out of Temasek Polytechnic, Stephanie is an aspiring illustrator, graphic designer and writer. Her illustrations of chubby cheeked superheroes are funny and incredibly endearing. Take it away Stephanie …

“A lot of people these days are very concerned about how they are perceived, to be socially accepted based on their actions and outlook. Comic and cartoon characters are usually portrayed as masculine and slim – and that creates unrealistic expectations. To break this trend, I created The Adventures of Fatman & Superchub, a comic that focuses on unexpected superheroes who don’t give a cow poop about their weight and body image. Join them in their daring (and silly) adventures with their sidekick Lemon the cat, as they show the world how to be yourself and not care about other people’s opinions and judgement.”

Signing session with Stephanie Raphaela Ho on 6 and 7 September from 11:00am – 11:45am at booth #H21.
