Project Plug: Jonathan Tan’s Cinemagraphs

Since they arrived in my inbox, I haven’t been able to stop smiling at the featured images. I love cinemagraphs because the GIFs are subtle and they testify to the pleasure to be found in the stillness and contemplative.

This wonderfully tranquil project was shot by Jonathan Tan, a graduating student from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information from NTU, with a specialisation in Advertising. “What’s interesting about cinemagraphy to me is that the subtle motions in these images brings ‘immortalising a moment’ to a whole new level as compared to still photography. There’s no deeper meaning to this project, just a simple experiment I tried around Singapore.”
