Honour Amongst Thieves by Shamine A. King

LASALLE College of the Arts has once again produced a fresh batch of graduates, and today we would like to share with you the work from Shamine Athena King.

The 22-year-old 2D animation specialist is the winner of LASALLE’S 2013 McNally Award for Excellence in the Arts. While still an undergraduate at LASALLE, Shamine was commissioned by gaming heavyweight UbiSoft to design and produce posters for their best-selling game Assassin’s Creed. She also saw her work tour Southeast Asia as winner of a Moleskine sketchbook competition and has been commissioned to illustrate a children’s book.

This is what Shamine has to say about her animation: “Honour Amongst Thieves is an animation produced at LASALLE College of the Arts, as part of my graduation. It is the culmination of five months’ pre-production work, research, character, and landscape development. Initially inspired by gender inequality in animation and the media, the concept has since developed to address issues related to religion, the government, and liberal thinking. The animation is still a work in progress, but I hope to extend the characters’ stories in the form of a graphic novel when the short is complete.”
