Microworlds — the first solo exhibition by Huang Mingrong

(from the press release)

Chan Hampe Galleries presents “Microworlds”— the first solo exhibition by Singaporean artist Huang Mingrong.

In “Microworlds” artist Huang Mingrong examines the transitional states of textural surfaces. Observing these surfaces at extremely magnified levels, she is drawn to the tiniest detail of debris, wear and tear, dust, or rust. Using oil on canvas, she abstracts these irregular qualities and in doing so these tiny worlds become haunting landscapes, expressing abandonment, solitude and stillness.

About the Artist

Huang Mingrong graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2012. Her work has been featured in the Affordable Art Fair Singapore. She has exhibited at 5footway.inn and participated in ‘Pameran Poskad’ at Viridian Art House.

“Microworlds” runs from 2 till 25 August at Chan Hampe Galleries, Raffles Hotel Arcade #01-20/21, 328 North Bridge Road. The exhibition is open daily from 11am – 7pm. Admission is free.
