“As a designer, I always crave for more knowledge and success. Indeed, I’m confident at my own capability because I believe that I have what it takes to be in this industry.” — Petrick
Raffles graduate Petrick Sutrisno is an up-and-coming fashion design talent who believes that fashion is all about knowing the right elements that suit different body types.
“You don’t have to follow what others are wearing just because it looks fashionable. Simply find the right color and silhouette that matches perfectly with who you are and what you are in order to be modern.”
The inspiration for his graduation collection is eccentric fashion legend, Luisa Casati. “She is the most celebrated woman of the 1900s. Moving away from what had defined fashion at that time, Marchesa Luisa Casati revolutionized women’s clothing and style. She is the perfect example of her own masterpiece. An inspirational character who lived in the midriff of fantasy and reality. She reflects fashion in its purest form of fantasy and brought a trail of her eccentricity into life with irresistible seduction and female empowerment.”
An award winner of the recent Japan Creative Centre (JCC) 2nd Sustainable Fashion Design Contest, Petrick was given the opportunity to visit the Bunka Fashion School and the Nippori fabric town in Tokyo.
