Happily Ever After is so Once Upon A Time

Launching this Sunday during the Singapore Writer’s Festival is ‘Happily Ever After is so Once Upon A Time’, a children story book by Yix Quek, beautifully illustrated by Grace Duan and with handwritten typography design by Sharon Tan.

In between creating yesterday’s (advertising) junk, Yix has a passion for writing children’s picture books. In 2008, she published ‘The Book That Was Handed Down’ under the ‘First Time Writer & Illustrator’ publishing initiative by the Media Development Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Book Council. The book won the inaugural Hedwig Anuar children’s book award for outstanding children’s book in 2011.

Yix about her new book:  “When do we realise that fairy tales are fake, Santa Claus is your Dad in a silly costume and there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Belle is a precocious 7-year-old who often wonders about life and growing up and learns that life is best lived with positivity and magic. Inspired by yogic wisdom about how we see the world defines how the world is, ‘Happily Ever After is so Once Upon A Time’ aims to convey the message of how happily ever after is all in the mind.”

‘Happily Ever After is so Once Upon A Time’ is on sale at all major bookstores, and will also be available as an interactive iPad/iPhone App.
