John See is a photographer nearing the end of his photography degree at Raffles college of design in Sydney Australia. He places value on ‘natural moments’ in time, a mentality that originally had him gravitating towards photojournalism.
Varying subjects and aesthetics, John’s work is reflective of a young photographer who is searching for his own artistic style. Viewing all his photos there is an increasingly considered relationship between his subjects and their surrounding matter, leaving the images with pronounced, if not dominating negative space. “Lately my aesthetic look has me borrowing from the tradition of film. Mimicking film colour rendition, pulling of blacks, addition of grain to achieve this.”
