Spotted! Serene Lin aka Astralrae

Astralrae  likes many things, but she loves drawing and making things with her hands. She finds inspiration in nature and objects that have sentimental value, even if they only have sentimental value to her. In love with traditional crafts and saddened by their dying heritage, she tries to incorporate craft techniques in her work, in an attempt to revive the general appreciation for lost cultures. She is also intrigued by the idea of combining tradition with innovation.

“I get excited by textiles, fabrics and prints, and I am currently studying exactly those things at LASALLE College of the Arts, so that I will become a kick-ass textile designer when I put my books away.”

Serene’s work is part of the Pens & Needles exhibition which opens today and runs till 2 March at the ICAS Project Space, LASALLE College of the Arts.
