Kevin Yeo is one of the six recipients of this year’s DesignSingapore Scholarship. Kevin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2008 and received a Diploma in Communication Design from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2002.
He has a keen interest in visitor-user experience design where architecture intersects interior, graphic design and technology. He hopes to focus on a hybrid of audio, visual, textual and spatial content creation for diverse mediums that focus on experience and interaction design.
Kevin has worked on many interesting projects including the ‘One’ 360 European Tour for U2 (Video) and the revamp of musician Brian Eno’s website (Image 1). He also collaborated with Brian Eno and Wordsalad on ‘Tales of the Afterlives’ at the Sydney Luminous Festival 2009. His winning design at the Hugo Boss Visual Display competition was used to launch the Berlin Bag at Ropponggi Hills (Tokyo, Japan) in 2008. His project –Design by Numbers– (Image 3) is an exploration into mathematics and computing as a controller and generator random and sequential pattern imagery. Each composition is a result of computation through an algorithm to produce 100 patterns that use random co-ordinates from 314,572,800 possible interpolating points and 25600 possible colours.
Kevin received two nominations for the D&AD Global Student Awards – for the Graphic Design category in 2007 and the Music Video category in 2008.
