I HAVE A ROOM WITH EVERYTHING

He’s been showcasing beautiful printed items on his design blog since 2005. Now Yanda -author of  THEARTISTANDHISMODEL– is the curator of Singapore’s first graphic design exhibition –I HAVE A ROOM WITH EVERYTHING– dedicated to the art of print.

A handpicked selection of over 200 items will be on display to pay homage to the print techniques and workmanship behind them, including a feast of magazines, catalogues, books, mailers and music albums by the most recognisable names in design for the visually hungry. Highlighted items include WERK, Guerillazines for Comme des Garcons, Club 21 and On Pedder catalogues, limited edition books by John Clang and fashion invites or lookbooks from Wunderkind and BLESS as well as works by Stefan Sagmeister, Why Not Associates, Asylum, WORK, Kinetic, H55 and Silnt.

“Inspired by the idea of a space overtaken by a library of rich and rare printed materials to illuminate a personal and intimate setting, visitors are encouraged to feel at home by touching, smelling, exploring and interacting with the room and everything in it,” Yanda adds.

The exhibition will also be accompanied by an intimate dialogue session with industry professionals for students and young designers. Junny Saw (AlsoDoMinie) will be giving a walkthrough of their extensive and much-awarded portfolio which will be presented to the public for the very first time and Yong (Somewhere Else/Asylum), Jonathan Yuen (Roots) and Yah-Leng Yu (Foreign Policy Design) will be sharing their invaluable insights and personal stories. Applications are open till 17 July. Visit the website for more information.

Supported by The Design Society, I HAVE A ROOM WITH EVERYTHING is presented by DO NOT DESIGN, in collaboration with AlsoDoMinie, whose extensive and much-awarded print portfolio will be presented to the public for the very first time.

The exhibition opens on 23 July and runs through August 5 at Night & Day Gallery, 139C Selegie Road. Admission is free.
