In an effort to re-invent, recycle, re-introduce, re-new, re-assess and go forward in sustainability and eco-conscious design strategies, one must take stock of materials, resources, and creative ingenuity. To give a new life to past season’s clothes and pave way for new fashion designs, Raffles Design Institute and Wisma Atria partnered together to bring you Fashion Reglammed – a fashion design competition where students from the Bachelor of Design, Raffles Design Institute were asked to give a new ‘life’ to past-season garments contributed by Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge.
The students worked in groups of 2’s and 3’s and were given up to two weeks to submit their entries. They were only allowed to add up to 20% of new fabrics and materials to create the ‘new’ fashion pieces. Only the ten best entries were shortlisted.
Judging will be based on 80% from the panel of judges made up of Wisma Atria, Raffles Design Institute, Singapore, Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge. 20% will be from public voting. The garments are currently on exhibition at Wisma Atria as part of the Fashion Season @ Orchard programme and open to public voting via SMS. Come 6 May, the poll will be closed and the winner will be announced through a mini catwalk show.
