I found Alyssa Sulaiman’s work hanging at the TRANSMISSION: EXPERIENCE exhibit. Alyssa is a 19-year-old Level 2 Fashion Communication student at LASALLE, and she has got a great range works where she applies complimentary writing to all of her photographs.
“I cannot draw, I cannot paint, and my artwork can move you to tears because that’s how bad of an artist I am,” she says. “But instead, I enjoy running around with cheap rolls of film and writing, as it’s my primary passion, which is why my works involve both of these aspects. As terrible a cliché this is, I write from the heart. I suppose it stems from my worry-wart of a nature to overthink, which progresses into my feeling very dreary, and that’s when I do most of my writings.”
