Spotted! Matthew Teo

Matthew Teo‘s practice over the past five years has been one of self-portraiture and documentation of self throughout his growing up years. It has revolved around friends that he grew up with, to his family members and the most recent one being how he negotiated his life in and around the military service in Singapore. “I am using myself as a pivot point to reflect what most people go through and experience with a no holds barred perspective,” Matthew adds.

“As for A shortened statement of Two Years of Eternity, is a documentation of life in the army. A point of interest is how the army forces us to bond to with people by putting us down together with fellow soldiers in what they term the “Buddy System”. A mini series within the series, I have documented the “closest companions” I was forced to bond with during different stages of my service.”
