Spotted! AL&ALICIA

Our pick from the recent Blueprint 2010 tradeshow, is local designer Alicia Ong. Born in 1983, Alicia began her career in fashion in 2005, with an internship at Marc by Marc Jacobs while studying at Parsons School of Design. After graduation, Alicia spent almost two years working for fashion houses J Crew, DKNY and Richard Chai.

Following her return to Singapore in 2008, she pursued freelance work with local designer Wykidd Song. Her creative flair and independent nature led to the foundation of AL&ALICIA.

Alicia’s debut collection -titled STREET(n) path upon which travel occurs– was launched in November 2009, and reflects her signature flair of ‘boyish chic’. The collection was largely influenced and inspired by random street culture, music and art.

Fans of the AL&ALICIA label include South African celebrity host and model Jeanie Dee, renowned fashion site refinery29.com, and a variety of fashion and lifestyle magazines including Top Billing. The Straits Times also recently named Alicia as one of the top 50 faces to watch this year.

The AL&ALICIA collections are available online and from selected boutiques. Visit the website for more information.
