Exhibition: These Things Must Be Done To Get Along In Life

These Things Must Be Done To Get Along In Life is an art show which considers human agency in the rhythm and structures of daily life.

Based on the premise that all action is socioculturally mediated, this exhibition hones in at the intersection of human agency and structure, structure being primarily expressed as the things people do in a regularised and institutionalised way.

Works by Kirsten Tan, Sha Najak, Tan Wee Lit and Vertical Submarine reflect on the ways individuals, resist, reshape, and reproduce these structures in their lives.

The show is presented with the support of City Developments Limited and National Arts Council.

Dates:

9 – 23 December at the Show Room, Post-Museum

Artist Talks:

• Tan Wee Lit at 8pm on 11 December 2009
• Sha Najak & Project X at 8pm on 18 December 2009 (admission by RSVP only to thesethingsmustbedone@gmail.com)
