Spotted! Lavender Chang

Lavender Chang has a Diploma in Visual Communication from Temasek Polytechnic and is currently taking her degree in Photography and Digital Imaging in Art, Design and Media at the Nanyang Technological University.

Lavender was featured as one of the ‘Emerging talents – budding amateur photographers’ in PhotoVideo magazine 2006. She was also one of the selected artists that showcased their work at the Noise Festival in 2007 and 2009. Most of her photographs are about food, fashion and journalism. She is now taking her next step to pursue conceptual photography and her work “Untitled” was exhibited at the National Library in March 2009.

Lavender about her work: “Most people would seek to hide what they perceive as imperfections of their intrinsic traits. I am using the combination of powder and nature to present the dilemma of concealing one’s true self. Should we be concerned with our own imperfections, or how others perceive us? Is this masquerade meant for ourselves or for others?”
