Spotted! Terrence Tan

Making things difficult for himself is Terrence Tan‘s forte when it comes to art. Combined with an energetic vigor to differ, he likes to leave his peers wondering how it was done.

Terrence always wanted to be part of an art movement that promotes local artists, photographers and musicians. He decided to join Noise, and when you browse their website you will spot some of his works in the 2009 showcase, including ‘Black Audrey’ pictured above.

Terrence loves texture, and wanted to paint on something with more grain and feel.  “I realized I could -and had to- make my own, since there weren’t any woven canvases around,” he explains. “During the process, it dawned on me that by combining two contrasting splashes together, the result was an even more randomly dispersed pattern, underlying a matrix of squares. You can call it chaotic order. My canvas was done. And all that was left, was Audrey’s timeless pose.”
