CRISP designers, Brian Law and Tan Sixu, drew their inspiration for the INCONVERSATION floor loungers and low tables from traditional Asian culture, where daily routines of work and play were all performed on the floor.

Brian explains, “A living room should be as it suggests, a “living room”; a space within a home dedicated and faithful to the flow and movement of people and vibrant conversation. Regrettably, degrading social patterns of interaction and the emerging dissolution of the family cluster has effectuated increasing reclusion and disengagement among family members. By infusing emotive qualities and extracting silhouettes and curves from human postures to form different ‘characters‘, the series of floor loungers whimsically cast the impression of people in conversation with one another.”

Tan Sixiu is a fresh graduate with Honors in Bachelor of Industrial Design, from the National University of Singapore. Sixiu has produced works that won her credits in the local art and design scene, and include the Young Designers Award 2001, UOB Painting of the Year 2001, Swarovski Lighting Competition 2007 and the Hansgrohe Excellence Award 2007.

Brian Law graduated from the National University of Singapore with Honors in Bachelor of Industrial Design and a minor in Entrepreneurship in 2007. He won a series of international design awards; the International Design Osaka Competition 2005, International Red Dot Concept Design 2006, Electrolux Global Design Lab 2006. Earlier this year, he was one of the finalists of the Barcelona and Volvo Sports EcoDesign .

“We believe that objects should excite and intrigue people with the intent of personal engagement through human behaviour and/or touch. It is our humble intention to offer and suggest new perspectives and thought into the lives of those who come into contact with our design work.”
