The Dada Record: Christy Chow

Hello, I am Christy Chow and I am an apparel designer. I have a fashion label, Tangle, which was started in late 2006. Currently under the collective Studio Privé, the label will take flight independently in 2008. The label envisions the beauty of mixed movements and embraces the love for texture. Come December, Tangle’s 2nd collection - We Are Obscene: The Obscenity of Rock, hopes to incite and excite in different planes. Envisioning an age of uncensored voices from the backlane, the pieces encourage you to take a moment and waste time in them. Being erratic and influenced by too many wonderous things, the label is also a platform for me to explore different areas of art and design. To me, music is about infusing a state of mind. It need not inspire, so long as I have fun and indulge for that brief moment.

Caffeine by The Analog Girl
I love the variety of beats on it and I felt a surge of energy in it. I used this for my graduation showcase and it never fails to remind me of a very experimental and exciting period.

Redemption Song by Bob Marley
This song brings inner peace back to me. It brings me back when I feel jaded.

Break The Wall by Qiu Hong
I bask in an androgynous spirit and get into gear with this. MMM!

Voodoo People by The Prodigy
What energy. What energy! I enjoy Drum & Bass alot and this has to be one of my all time favourite. Not to mention an excellent music video to top it all off.

All You Need Is Love by The Beatles
Introduced by my Dad, I love the simple wordplay and orchestra/festive-like melody in this track. To me, their music is not just a melody. It’s a message of poetic measures which I thoroughly enjoy. “Time you enjoy wasting, was not time wasted” - John Lennon.

    Tiger Translate FUTURE is a cutting-edge, experiential event featuring a cool fusion of art and sound; where ZOUK will be transformed for one night only to represent local artists’ interpretation of their ‘City of the Future’. During the evening, the 10 best submissions as selected by a judging panel that includes well-known industry names like Alvin Tan (Founder, Phunk Studio), Chris Lee (Creative Director, Asylum) and Steve Llewellyn (Executive Creative Director, Bates 141 Singapore), will be on display.   • 5th Singapore Short Cuts
    This year’s programme features new short films by acclaimed local filmmakers such as Kirsten Tan, K.
